Last night my son suggested soup for dinner. I'd been wanting to try to make clam chowder that wasn't completely from a can so I found a recipe on Pinterest which was surprisingly easy. It turned out pretty well though I think I'll use clam juice instead of water next time for even more, erm, clamminess. The bacon I cooked in the oven and I found it a lot easier than cooking it on the stove or on a griddle. Didn't have to worry about turning it, grease popping on my arm or a horrid cleanup. Just tossed the aluminum foil I lined the cookie sheet with and I was done. I realized after making it that I had bought a bag of russet potatoes and already had a nearly full bag...so...I guess I'll be cooking a lot with taters this week.
I've noticed I've come to enjoy cooking slightly more than I used to. The process still isn't so fun. Meal planning, grocery shopping, prepping, cleaning etc is still rather a pain but I have decided to focus on what I do like - looking at my bank account when I haven't been eating out a lot and having delicious leftovers for lunch versus some frozen monstrosity.
Work has been rather slow and boring lately...so I decided to try to do some crafty things. First I started with ordering this Paper Pumpkin deal my friend Rachel was selling. They had a special going for the first two months and I figured why not? I didn't really care for the card designs I was sent but I think it was worth getting the acrylic block they provided in the first kit and having a bit of a distraction at work.
It inspired me to use my downtime at work a bit more wisely. If I'm stuck here I might as well attempt some creative endeavors instead of simply passing the time on Facebook. So I decided to load up my polymer clay which I have a TON of and hardly ever play with. I decided to again search Pinterest for some inspiration and it is apparently a "thing" to make realistic looking babies out of polymer clay. Wow. People are....strange.
